Wooster, OH—Even though polar bears live in northern, ice-covered climates, there’s never been a better place for Wooster Polar Bear® rollers than the many stucco surfaces in the Pacific southwest.
Finding a roller cover that evenly applies coatings to rough surfaces can be a struggle. However, the tiny fibers in Wooster-exclusive Polar Bear roller fabric are designed to reach into textured and uneven surfaces to create a smooth finish. These fibers pick up and release enormous amounts of paint for fast, even coverage. Polar Bear rollers are made for use with all flat, eggshell or satin paints, stains, sealers and primers, but they also apply metallic paints and glazes well too!
The packaging for Polar Bear rollers notes that they should be used on “medium to rough surfaces.” Recently Wally Reed, Wooster district manager for California and Nevada, suggested a more specific approach when he said, “Polar Bear is exceptional on knock-down, textured walls that we have in homes out here in the West. I wish the package indicated that use, because painters here could be very successful with it.”
Available in 4½- and 6½-inch Jumbo-Koter® minirollers as well as 9- and 18-inch full-size rollers, there’s a Polar Bear cover that’s right for any size job. Ask for the full Wooster Polar Bear line at traditional paint and decorating centers, hardware stores, and paint sundry distributors or retailers.
LOS ANGELES -- (August 14, 2012) Dunn-Edwards has introduced two new finishes to its popular Acri-Hues line. The new offerings include Eggshell and Semi-Gloss finishes, joining the existing Acri-Hues Exterior Flat Paint that painting professionals and specifiers have come to depend on and trust for their projects. With the addition of the Eggshell and Semi-Gloss finishes, Dunn-Edwards now offers a complete exterior line that meets the demands and needs of specifiers and painting professionals.
Acri-Hues Exterior Flat is formulated using a high quality 100 percent acrylic resin, and will continue to be available in all Perfect Palette colors. “Acri-Hues Exterior Flat was introduced six years ago and has become hugely popular,” said Dave Heiligenthal, product manager. “It is an extremely dependable paint that provides excellent fade and grain crack resistance and is ideal for use on residential and commercial projects,” added Heiligenthal.
The two new additions to the Acri-Hues line, exterior Eggshell and Semi-Gloss, are ultra-low VOC, acrylic paints that provide dependable performance when used on properly prepared exterior wood, masonry, stucco, concrete and metal surfaces.
“The new Acri-Hues Eggshell and Semi-Gloss paints perform as well as some competitive 100 percent acrylic paints,” he said. “Our competitive benchmark testing reveals that these two new products show superior resistance to dirt pick-up as well as improved application performance.”
Like all other Dunn-Edwards products, Acri-Hues Exterior Paint is eco-friendly, ethylene glycol (EG)-free and produced in the world’s only LEED® Gold-certified paint manufacturing plant. Acri-Hues Exterior Paint is ultra-low VOC at 50 grams per liter, and has very low odor both during and after application. Dunn-Edwards paint is tinted with zero VOC colorants.

Benjamin Moore Adds Molten Metallics To Its Studio Finishes Collection
(MONTVALE, NJ—JULY, 2012)—Endlessly bubbling up with innovation, Benjamin Moore has introduced Molten Metallics, a new addition to its Studio Finishes portfolio. The name of this new paint product evokes the end result: a surface imitative of a hand-hammered metal.
While most of the special effects coatings in the Studio Finishes collection are glazes, Molten Metallics is an alkyd high gloss paint. It is ideal for adding a dramatic, glamorous look to furniture, decorative pieces, trim and accent ceilings and walls. It also is recommended for exterior surfaces and delivers an effective rust-resistant treatment.
“The illusion of the texture that Molten Metallics creates is captivating and sensual,” said Sonu Mathew, Benjamin Moore’s senior interior designer. “It’s an easy way to produce a rarified look that only artisans typically have mastered. And, it’s a lot more economical, too.”
Molten Metallilcs is sold in quarts, $22.95, or pints $15.95 MSRP. Six standard ready-mixed colors are offered: Gold, Copper, Bronze, Gun Smoke, Silver and Charcoal. Two coats are adequate to complete a project.
