I want to get health insurance for me and one employee for my painting company.
I would like some feedback on which insurance companies to pursue, what the rates would be like, and if there are any discounts offered for PDCA members.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Serra:

Check out: E Health Insurance

They should be able to give you some idea of what is out there.

As a side note, I'd be interested in what the PDCA may be doing for this issue. With the President's call for association plans, I was wondering if the PDCA has made any contacts with any carriers. I use to put together and administer association health care plans (I handled 18 trade and professional association plans). So I am more than just familiar with the ins and outs, pros and cons of association health insurance programs, as well as how to manage the adverse risks. I'd be more than happy to lend my level of experience and expertise if needed to the PDCA, as a volunteer member or committee member.

BTW, association plans in the state of maryland went ka-put after small group reform hit. So, its a moot point here.

Swayle,

You may want to check out what ICI/Dulux offers as far as health insurance at their website:

ICI/Dulux and PDCA have connected together to help painting contractors "raise the bar".

Good Luck

If you join the Chamber of Commerce with your business, you will get great discounted rated for health insurance. I know because one of the companies I worked for did just that. I am sure the rates vary, but it was Blue Cross/ Blue Shield.

Thanks for the great advice guys!!
It gives me a good direction to start in.
I am going to get some kind of health insurance in place.
Eventually, if PDCA offers something better for health insurance coverage in the future, I suppose I would switch over.
